On January 4-6 the Mbarara Church of Christ held its very first VBS for the children of the town church. Team teacher Amy Howard planned the three-day event, and she was helped by Carole Gage and the "Aggies for Christ" group that was visiting at the time. The MCC youth group also served as interpreters and helpers. A total of 66 kids came for the VBS, with an average of 50 kids attending each day.

Amy and everyone working on the VBS had three main purposes they wanted to accomplish with this VBS:

1) To make learning the Bible fun for the kids

2) To bring in more kids from Mbarara town

3) To provide an example for the MCC children's ministry so they can do it on their own in the future

The theme was on "Noah's Ark", and they told the story in segments over the three days (VBS met from 10-12 each morning), with a focus on God's faithfulness in his promises and his love for his people.

There were three stations that the children visited each morning: a dramatization of the story, an arts/crafts porject to go along with each day's lesson, and games based on the story of Noah (animal tag, bean bag toss into the ark, etc).

Amy reports that her favorite part of the VBS was "seeing the joy and enthusiasm of the kids as they participated and sang, and the teamwork of everyone involved who came together and made VBS a success.

Thanks to eveyone for a job well done!

Please keep the children of the town church and all the kids in Mbarara town in your prayers...
