Can you imagine a church filled with women who are completely disconnected?

Women who attend church together every Sunday, but don't know each other very well at all?

Sisters who have no spiritual or emotional support?

That's how the women of our Mbarara town church related with one another two years ago.  They didn't relate.

All of that is changing now! Two years ago, upon the request of some of the female church members, Carole Gage and I began a weekly ladies Bible study. Meeting weekly was paramount to grow a core group of women who would become friends. In the beginning, there was little conversation and even less trust amongst the women, but it has been so exciting to watch this ministgry grow!

Presently there are about 15 core women in our group. In addition to meeting weekly for Bible class, we also visit in homes periodically, especially whenever there is a birth, death, etc. Every once in a while we also meet for food and games at the home of a missionary.

We have had several big "Ladies Days" where there have been over 30 women present. We are also beginning to make more efforts to join Lori Earles in her women's village ministry. To maintain and grow our young friendships, we try to remain an active group of women!

It has been such a blessing to be a part of this ministry from the beginning. Watching faith and friendship blossom among the Ankole women is such a joy!
