One of the greatest blessings of living in Uganda and doing the work we do is the fact that we get to serve together on such a wonderful team. It is a priviledge to work together in God's Kingdom with so many talented Christians. Some of the greatest lessons we've learned while here in Uganda have been what we've learned from each other as we experience being the Body of Christ together. "Team life" is a great thing when your teammates are also some of your best friends!

The original team members met at Harding University and began meeting, planning, and praying together in August 1994. The Bakers, Fouts, and Gages moved to Houston, Texas in 1996, where they spent one year with their coordinating congregation, the First Colony Church of Christ, in order to receive further training, raise their remaining work funds, and develop lasting relationships with the members. They departed for Uganda on October 1, 1997.

The first few years in Uganda were spent learning language and culture, making initial contacts, and generally settling in to their new homes. It was an exciting time when the first churches were "born" about two years after our arrival! Since that time, God has expanded the mission to include a town church, women's ministry, and rural and urban development projects (The Source, water wells, microloans). With each of those new ministries, team members were added or team work roles were adjusted, and the Lord has used these experiences to grow our team in ways we never could have imagined back in 1994!

The first new teammates the Lord brought to Mbarara were the Lindseys in the year 2000, who set up the Source Resource Center in town.

Next came the Naramores in 2001, to start the water wells development project. These families also work with the town church.

Then Lori Earles came to do rural women's ministry in early 2002, followed by the first teacher for the team kids, Terri Taylor, in 2003.

Scott and Emily Glisson joined the team in September 2004. Scott leads several ministries for our team: he manages the Source, spearheads the microloan program, and runs the "Jesus Film" ministry, among other things.

Stacey Guyse joined as an additional teacher for the 2004-2005 school year. Beth Tunick and Amy Howard came to teach, along with Terri, for 2005-2006.

The team experienced its first "teammate departure" when the Lindseys returned to the States in 2003. More recently, the Naramores have moved back to the US in September 2006.

Theron and Sara Hutton were added to the team in early 2006; they are planning to move to Uganda in 2008, hopefully with others who will make up "phase two" of the Ankole Mission Team!

We believe the Lord is working to bring others to work in and around Mbarara in the coming years! So we are committed to recruiting additional people to come and enhance this ministry in the years to come.

How YOU can be involved!
The "team" is really much more than just the people listed above -- this is an effort that involves many people. Our families, our friends, our coordinating congregation, our supporting churches, and many others are involved in this mission.

We ask you, first of all, to keep us in your prayers, and secondly, to consider how else the Lord may be calling you to join us in this, His mission! Feel free to contact us at team @ ankolemission.com if you have any questions, or if you would like more information about this work.
