We have several different strategies for leadership training in this mission. Below is a brief description of each...
LEADERSHIP MEETINGS...
We have these meetings every quarter and they involve about 40 men from each of the town and village churches. One of the main purposes of these is to give them the chance to meet together and work through issues and problems that may be affecting many or all of our churches. Other benefits of these meetings are: increased fellowship, encouragment, and teamwork among the Ankole leaders; sharing church reports and praying for all the churches; working together to plan and pray for the future of this work. Praise God for the leaders he is raising up!
February 2005 Leaders Meeting... On February 8-9 we had our best leaders meeting to date! 33 men came and we spent most of our time discussing the difference between religion and a relationship with God. It followed the great course Jay taught in January on "How To Study the Bible" and the men came away from that meeting with a clearer understanding of our beliefs and purposes.
ANKOLE BIBLE SCHOOL (ABS)...
These are training seminars that usually involve about 25 men from the town and the villages. These are men that have been identified as mature leaders that have the gift of teaching. Courses are taught in ministry, Biblical studies, and other subjects for practical Christian service and leadership.
2005 ABS Courses... We have had some wonderful courses so far! In January, Jay taught a course in "How to Study the Bible" that was one of the most practical and enlightening courses to date. Nick taught a great course on "Christian Counselling" in March, and in April we had a guest teacher (James Luchivya from Mbale) teach about the "Life and Teachings of Christ." Other courses we have taught in the past are "The New Testament Church," "Preaching," "New Testament Survey," "James," and "Ministry Workshop".

ABAJUBI (FISHERMEN)...
The "Abajubi" is our smallest getherings of leaders (usually around 10), and these typically include our most mature leaders that we have known for quite some time. These events are planned as needed, and often we will go with them somewhere away from Mbarara. For example, in 2003 we had a weekend of prayer and fasting at an island camp about 2 hours away. In 2004, Nick took six men to Kenya for a week in order to visit with church leaders there.
OTHER LEADERSHIP TRAINING MINISTRIES...
Lori Earles regularly hosts a leadership training seminar for the village ladies, much like the men's "ABS." Click HERE to learn more about it.
Shane Gage also holds various training programs for members of the Mbarara town church.
