These are the architectural drawings of the building that is now being constructed in Mbarara town. There is a brief explanation under each drawing which explains how each level of the building will be used.

This is the ground floor plan. As you can see, the majority of this level will consist of the shops that will be rented out, generating income that will pay for the upkeep and ongoing expenses of the building (extra income will go towards events that benefit all the Ankole churches). Click HERE to learn more about the plans for the building. The Source Resource Centre will occupy one fo the shop spaces, and you can see a reception area for the church in the rear of this level. The stairs in the back-right corner lead up to the next level. There are also staris on the outside leading up and around to the back of the building, to the second level where the church will meet...

This is the second level ("first floor" in the U.S.), where the town church will meet. The worship area is about twice the size of our current rental facility, and we are very much in need of the added classroom, office, and storage space as well. (Though the wall between the large classroom and the worship hall will likely be one that can be removed if more worship space is needed. Note the "double-double" doors that lead out the back. This walkway leads right to the rest of the property, which is actually on the same level as this second floor (and not the ground floor - we're basically building on a hill, so this enabled us to have less excavation and to keep the "extra space" out back on a level with the church area). There is plenty of space remaining in the back of the property to expand the church if needed. For now, the open area will be a nice outdoor space for church functions (youth activities, fellowship meals, etc.), and it can be covered with tarps for periodic "big meeting" events such as annual all-church meetings.

The third level ("second floor in the U.S.) will be dedicated to the Ankole Bible School (click here to learn more). "ABS" is our leadership training school, and we are very excited that this new space will allow us to invite many more leaders from the town and village churches to attend! Some of the classroom spaces noted will actually be dormatories.

The above two drawings show the side view of the building, outside and cross-section. Note the fourth level, labeled "open terrace". This will be a large open space that can also be used for big gatherings, and the town church could use it for an extra worship service should the need ever arise for a separate service for the English and Runyankore languages. There are many other possible uses for this space, but we will leave it "open" until we see what the best use will be.

We're excited about this building... Many uses and purposes, lots of windows, a veranda and reception area to allow our church to continue to be a cool "hang out" place in town... and who are those two cool cats walking out the front? ...Please keep this project in your prayers!!
